Qatar Contracts Manager Role.

A Uk PQS in Doha needs a Contracts Manager to be seconded into a major Qatari client.

Client approval is needed for this role. Hence the requirements are quite stiff to pass the approval process. The challenge is the money is not where it used to be not only in Doha but across the Gulf due to various reasons over the last couple of years.

Hence the requirement is –

BSc QS

MRICS

20 years post grad experience.

Buildings exp, Commercial exp – Hospitals, Hotels, Residential, Commercial.

The project you will be seconded into is a large building project which is in part of Qatar’s largest live project.

The client will sign off on the above criteria. The challenge is the monies that are available for the role and the fees the PQS can get for the role.

Monies will sit at around 40 / 42000 QAR which is a significant drop in the monies that this level of role used to pay. Gulf experience is preferred however if you are a senior QS that has contracts experience on a major UK project this can be considered.

You will get flights and initial accommodation on entry in Qatar. The Visa process takes between 3 and 6 weeks. The PQS will pay for this.

The role is 5 days a week. Sunday to Thursday.

The project is ongoing so there is a good duration of work.  So if you are looking to stay in the region if you are currently in the Gulf the monies are lower than they have been historically but a good duration of work with a respected QS in Doha.

Interviews can happen pretty quickly with the PQS and can happen via Skype, conference call or telephone depending on where you are in the world.

The client approval can be achieved in 1 week. However, it is currently Ramadan and the working hours on the project are significantly reduced. Hence this approval time could be a week or two more currently.
